Hoping for a few pointers,

I have the opportunity to aquire a 1979 SL450 from the elderly relative of a friend.

I haven't seen it yet,Hoping to over the weekend, its currently in a classics workshop having various bits and pieces done.

90k,always garaged, its only done 600 miles in the last 12 years according to the mot history.

I've had a lot of classics over the years(mainly jaguars) so the usual inspection for tinworm etc will be undertaken, I guess I'm asking if there's anything specific with this model,engine/gearbox etc ?

Many thanks.

This will be a R107 then, my favourite car of all time and nobody knows just how much I'd love to have one. Way out of my price league unfortunately and good ones now fetch tens of thousands of pounds.
I think the most important thing here is to watch out for rust. I understand the bulkheads are extremely prone to it and l suggest you look on the SL shop website for more info.
Good luck with it.

Yes bulkhead rust is the main thing to beware of. Wet carpets are the giveaway.
