1982 380SL Power Steering

I Bought a 380 SL convertable/1982 last week. It has been sitting up for about a year. The power steering is great when I am making easy turns or driving straight. When I have to make a shharp turn- Left or Right it feels like NO power stering. Anyone have any ideas?
This is my first experiance with a classic car..so any advice would be helpful.

Maybe the belt is slipping, is it OK when parking.Any noise ?

I had her oil changed and the mech told me that the Power steering fluid was low!..Drives like a dream now!
