1982 MB 240D

1. How does one adjust the idle on a 1982 240D?

2. Car wouldn't start..made a single click sound..battery is fine. I tapped the starter and it turned over. Do I need a new starter? Will this likely happen again?

1) Cant help with diesel, i have petrol version and its not goona be the same. You can buy the haynes manual for that model
2)Yes new startermotor if battery is fine...

you are suppose to depress the aceelerator 1/2 way and turn the idle adjustment knob, counterclockwise to low it, clockwise to increase engine speeds, i believe. (double check in your manual, its there), if you mean you want to adjust the knob, the haynes manual recommends taking any post 1980 model to a deal b/c its complicated.
