i recently purchased a 1983 500 sel . the problem is that the insurance companies said there is no 500 made that year. the car was purchase in germany. does anybody have any information about these kind of vehicles. thank you

I would suggest you write to DAIMLER CHRYSLER, Customer Sevices Dept, Milton Keynes,with your Model ,Year, & chassis serial No, & request information on your car.
I did with my old 1948 model & they where most obliging.

Hello there

The insurance company person is thick. The 500SEL was sold in most markets from 1979 to 1991. The USA & South Africa enjoyed the car for a little time after 1991. The car went through a thorough revision in autumn 1985.
