Just purchased a couple of months ago and I would like to change the automatic gearbox oil as it's alttle brown rather than being nice and red. I suspect it hasn't been changed in a while.
As I am unfamiliar with Autoboxes whats the best way to change the oil and are there any filters that need cleaning out or replacing while I am doing it?
Thanks for the help

auto box fluid change

Hi. but yourself a "haynes manual" from halfords or a parts shop on that model or the saloons of that era "same auto box", buy a new filter and sump pan gasket from merc dealer, not expensive , atf dexron fluid you can buy at any car shop.just follow instructions, you will need to get the car up couple of feet and level on axle stands or ramps but other than that its easy! dont overtighten the fixing bolts on sump and especially the torque converter drain plug just firm to nipped! fluid quantaties etc all in manual, no problem! all the best .
