I am another newbie, and am looking for feedback before I purchase a 1986 560SEL. It has 186,000 miles, everything works except the headlight wipers and the stiching has seperated in a spot of the back seat where the sun beats down. The headlights have yellowed and one has rock chips. It smokes at idle and the owner said it was an valve issue, and the bottom half of the engine is oily and greasy. The paint is faded but that could be corrected with a good buff and shine. It starts, shifts and drives great. The owner is asking $3500.00.
So does this sound like a good deal, and are there any suggestions on how to resolve the issues I have listed? Are there any problems I need to be aware of?
