Here's the problems:

Left hand front electric window:
Will only go up so far to within an inch of full closure. Motor can be heard sounding like machine gun going off e.g. tut, tut, tut, tut. Possible gears slipping? Window has to be gripped both sides by hands & physically pushed home. Again, window must be manually forced down from fully closed position ,down about an inch & window will then go down from button, Window will go up & down fine but only to within an inch of full closure.
Right Hand front window:
Goes up & closes fine, but only goes down & stops within about 4 to 5 inches of door top.Wiil not go down any furter. No funny noises. Will go back up fine from here.

Any ideas?

trhe first window is pretty much guaranteed to be the final tooth broken off the regulator - they all do it eventually and you either replace the regulator or weld a new tooth on either is a cheap and pretty much permanent fix.

the second one would be slightly harder to diagnose - does it go down if you prtess on it whilst the motor is running? if so suspect the retaining clips on the regulator being loose or if it jams completely suspect the window guides being out of adjustment

Hi Andy K

Thanks for prompt reply. left hand window: I had door panel off to lubricate bits & had an idea something would have to come out. Is it difficult to remove the bits to fix? I see 2 or 3 nuts, is it these I remove? and somehow lever out mechanism through gaps????

On drivers window, haven't tried the push down test, will do so & let you know.
