Does anyone know if the factory fitted Scorpion 738 alarm fitted to this model is the all singing all dancing type, i.e does the windows up, locks the doors, Thatcham approved, etc?

Reason is, when i got my merc it wasnt supplied with the remote for it, and ive been quoted £60 to have the alarm removed and sent to Scorpion, and a further £30 to have it re-coded for new remotes. For another few quid i can have a brand new alarm fitted that does all the above, and i was wondering if its worth getting the existing one sorted. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Cheers for this Andy,

i should have realised that anything electronic is out of date the day after you buy it these days!!!

Looks like a new Clifford Concept 50 is on the cards then!.

cheers

Hi Matt,

Not wanting to be a kill joy. But I hate cliffords. Not that they are a bad alarm, they seem excellent. But for us tech, or my techs. No matter how many times I tell em to watch it cos the clifford locks the vehicle with the keys inside. Guess what?

Watch out for the self closing. Make sure the keys are in your hand.

Good luck

Oh yeah, its always fun and games with them. i used to have a concept 50X on my last car, and with a few button pressing combinations on the remote, you can switch that feature off. i never got caught with it thankfully, but my dad borrowed my car once, and after me saying about 10 times, not to leave the keys in the car, low and behold he locks himself out!. Just for future reference of you are working on a car with one fitted, that feature can be bypassed. When the car is running, turn the engine off as if you are about to remove the key, then switch the ignition on (so all the dash lights come on) then off again. Do this within 10 seconds of the initial engine switch off and the auto lock is bypassed....this is for when you are filling up with petrol etc so the car wont lock. remember though that when the ignition is switched on again for any reason, the bypass is cancelled, so you have to repeat the procedure. Better still, the alarm has a Valet mode. By pressing the small button on the side of the remote twice, then the big main button once, this activates the mode. The red LED will stay on constantly and irritatin things like the auto lock and auto immobilser wont activate. Again, if the ignition is switched on for any reason the mode is cancelled and has to be repeated. You probably know all of this anyway, but if you didnt, it may save a few embarassing lock outs!!!

cheers
