Hi everyone! Have just been given a G reg 230te estate which is very low at the back. Looking underneath, there's some sort of lever that seems to have snapped. Knowing nothing about these cars, can anybody offer any needed advice. Apart from this problem the car is a dream, even though its done 194000 miles.

if that lever is the one attached to a small metal valve which is connected to the rear suspension and the anti roll bar then that is the self levelling valve and it may well need replacing - if it's broken it certainly will need replacing :)

Cost about £140 from either the dealers or Europarts plus 2 litres of MB Hydraulic fluid to refill the system afterwards - cost about £8.50 a litre - you must use MB fluid as the cheaper and easily available LHM fluid is no good for this system.

Not a difficult job but messy as the fluid is horrible stuff.

After refitting you need to load the car with at least 120KG in the boot BEFORE you restart the car to reset the self levelling system

Sure it's the bar that's snapped and not the Ubolt that clamps it to the anti-roll bar that's broken. The Ubolt does get quite rusty but costs pence to replace.
