Hello all,
I wonder if anyone has experienced corrosion of the brake pipes and has had to have any replaced. The pipes on mine are showing signs of only surface (hopefully!) corosion, especially on the pipes from the inner wing to the front calipers, but it looks as though these could be a bit of a tricky job to replace.
If anyone has any advice on their possible replacement, I'd be very grateful.

My 1990 190E neede replacement rear brake pipes last year.
My MOT tester, who owns a 190E,said they are bad for corroding at the back and coated them with grease the previous year.
Replacement was straight forward, standard copper brake pipes with new fittings and I had no probs bleeding with the ABS.
Couple of hours work for the rears and cost about £10 DIY

Thanks for the info.
The rear pipes on mine are showing signs of corrosion, and would appear to be relatively straightforward to replace. The front pipes though, seem a lot trickier to replace as they thread through the inner wings and around the bulkhead.
I just wonder if it's easier than it looks!
Steve.

Recently replaced rear brake pipes on a 200T. Result..........scraped knuckles and massive loss of temper resulting in calling in a friend to assist. Getting tools above the self leveling suspention is a bit tricky.

Give the pipes a rub with awire brush and then waxoyl and you probably wont need to change them in your ownership.
