Hello, i need your help!

On my Mercedes-Benz 200E the aux fan don't work with the air-con ON, but:

1) the pressure switch is OK
2) air-con works ok: the temperature of the condenser reaches "solar" values in few minutes (with the aux fan off)!

(note that the aux fan works fine with the air-con OFF, when the engine temperature is near 110°C)

What happened to my beloved car?

Thanks for your help

lost its gas as a guess. Condensers probably holed.

A few weeks ago, with air conditioned on the fan was also on, and now the fan only comes on when the engine (water) temperature reach approx 100°C

Now the fan does not work with air conditioned on, and the radiator air conditioning reaches very high temperatures

Sorry for my English unclear

thanks

Thank you! Malcom:

I'll explain what I know about this car:

1) The electric fan (named aux fan) works when the engine temperature is near 100 - 110°C

2) With the air conditioned activated the fan is controlled by the pressure switch placed on the circuit of the air conditioner, which keeps the fan on whenever the compressor comes on, regardless of the temperature of the engine

Now is this function that no longer exists and the temperature of the radiator conditioner greatly increases.

obviously the pressure switch is working well and this makes inexplicable the phenomenon

the thermo switch you mentioned works well, and activates the fan driven by the motor, with magnetic clutch, when the auxiliary fan works for the air conditioning and the engine temperature increase over 110°C

Yes, air con still working, but logically without aux fan the condenser temperature rises rapidly!

I imagine that the pressure also rise

thanks Malcom!
