1991 300SL hard top installation - HELP

I bought a hard top and put it on, but it just sits there elevated about two-three inches and no matter what buttons I push it won't go down and rest on the body of the car. I never had an owner's manual so I have no idea what to do. PLEASE HELP!!!:
