1991 ce300

[Coupe]

On the instrument panel there is a 1" by 1/2" square panel at the bottom in the middle. I understand it's for the external temperature guage. I get no indication. Was it an optional extra or standard if optional extra would you still have the box I described? I did search aound the bumper for a sensor but found no trace. Any way of telling if fitted etc.
