Just bought this vehicle from auction, sat in my drive for 4 weeks and now the battery is dead. Only have igntion key, cannot unlock boot (trunk lid) to access battery. Do not have owner's manual. Any one know if there is a boot release on the interior of the vehicle? Any assistance to this American would be appreciated. Attempting to avoid a ringing a locksmith.

Hi,
Is the Battery in the back? Didnt know that! Im gonna talk with experience with getting in the boot of a slightly different english model. Getting into the boot is not easy:

Remove the rear seats, then remove the parcel shelf.

The next bit is tricky. The latch that the boot lock catches onto is accessible through a small flap on the slam panel of the lid. Hence ure gonna need long arms and a long screwdriver to pull down the plastic flap. Then with an extended 10mm wrench undo the two bolts that hold the latch in place.
The lid should come free and spring up.

this is really frustrating, and if u dont have long arms can be impossible. the petrol tank is also annoyingly in the way, so ure arms also have to be thin! Im not a car thief honest! I just keep locking keys in the boot!

there is no other way to do this, unless the vehicle has another jump start point in the front, in which case your central locking should open the boot lid.

Ignore me if this is not relevant to a USA model.

Thanks

Jay

if you have the doors open you can charge the battery via the cigar lighter.

Get some sort of cheap accessory item that plugs into the cigar ligher. cut the wire off of the accessory and connect the wires to a standard charger. In a few hours you will have a charged the battery !!

If the car is a late model you can open the trunk from the key. if it is an early model the push button should open it and the ignition key can be used to unlock the trunk locking mechanism.
