Hi,
I would like to buy an early 90's 300SL but having not sat in one, am struggling to find one for sale that we can all get to look at anyway & am not sure on the room in the back seat.

Obviously I know that the rear seat is a token gesture and the space is going to be limited but are there any differences in years/models etc or changes to the rear seat that give more room than others that I should look out for?
I have 2 young kids (6 & 4) but they are quite tall and if they can't sit in the rear seat SAFELY it renders the exercise pretty much null & void before I start.

Any tips, details or info would be appreciated and if anyone in the SE of England has a decent model for sale or if you know of a good dealer for this age & type of car then please let me know.

Thanks,
Nick

In a nutshell it will be of no use at all, 2 very young at a push, you will get one 5-6 year old in, but not two. the driver only just has enough leg room on the 129, that's why the new one is 2" longer.

I would second Malcolm's views - it is only any good for puttin things on. I am not that tall but with me in the front, the front seat is right up against the rear seat

To measure the distance between the drivers back rest and the rear seat squab I use a feeler gauge...... You would get one behind the passenger seat if you had a short passenger
