1992 e300d - no iginition lights

help wanted - over last couple of days when turning on iginition only glow plug light has been coming on ( not every time) but car has always started.
last night coming home lights didn't seem too bright & about 3 mile from home ABS warning light came on & radio switched its self off. Engine still ran ok & no problems with car other than lights. About 1/2 mile from home everything righted its self - no ABS light radio on lights ok.
this morning glow plug light on & ABS light on nothing else & car doesn't try to turn over. all fuses checked & cleaned with switch cleaner. any other suggestions. -- car is a auto.

new OVR now fitted & rectified problem for 1 start of car only, fault also clears when battery disconnected & then reconnected but reverts to failed state after car started. -0 car starts no problems - any other suggestions

Sounds like a duff battery and/or alternator/regulator to me

A 300TD will run without a battery (what would it need a battery for when running?) so, once started, it'll run fine

At a wild guess, I'd say the regulator has failed & fried the battery

Would agree with above quote, have encountered W124 E300's with alternator terminals so corroded, voltage drop in circuit, prevented charging. But more than likely, the regulator is shot.

The Reg pack is only £18 from a bosch dealer, try that first. If the fuse has blown on the new OVP relay it will be the regulator pack.

problem now solved after new alternator fitted Monday. however car only back on the road today because I accidently broke vaccum take off connector ( from servo pipe) whilst refitting belt tensioner. complete new pipe required £33 from dealers. I did learn one thing - that engine will not stop even with keys out with no vacum on pipe - had to suck on pipe to stop engine.
