I have only had this car a couple of weeks, so just getting to grips with all the little niggling problems. Thanks to everyone on the forum I have managed to cure most of them.

The car had been stood for around 18 months, so needed a little re - commisioning to get back on the road. The central locking works fine with the key but has never worked on the fob button. I assumed that this was due to the fob battery been dead.

I fitted a new battery and had the fob "reprogrammed" but still inoperative when trying to lock on the button, any ideas,

cheers, Des

Hold the key in front of a digital camera and press a button on the remote, if it is sending a IR beam you will see it in the camera

Looked at the thumbnails and I'm guessing I have to look at the fob through a digital camera to see the beam ?

Slight snag, daughters taken my camera to Uni and left me with her disposable one.

It doesn't appear to work, through that !

Will borrow my mates and get back to you,
cheers, Des

Malcolm, thats a handy tip to have. im assuming that trick works with the digital cameras built into mobile phones too does it? im also assuming you just point the key at the lens and press the button on the key and watch the screen on the camera and not actually take a pic of the key as you press the button, am i right? sorry if i seem a bit dim lately. serious lack of sleep!

Yes Pete, just point it at any digital camera, no need to take a picture, you will see the beam if it is working

Malcolm,
checked fob with digital camera today and the beam flashes rapidly when you press the button.

I noticed that when you press the button and view it normally ( not through camera ) you can see that one corner of the red square lights up,

what do you think ?

cheers, Des

OK the key is sending a beam (the red one is only a battery indicator) so is it the receiver in the door handle, I would take a look in the DIY post and look at my post there on synchronizing

pointed and pressed button at the door reciever, then turned on ignition within 30 secs. Still nothing.

There is no response on any of the recievers, both doors and boot,

I am not sure off hand but under the dash or in one of the sides in the boot.

I use a scope to trace the signals, but not easy if you do not have one.

I will try and find more info on it.
