1994 C280: Front Door Driverside Lock

Hello,

I am not able to lock the Front Door Driverside Lock & the key
just turns. Seems like the lock is either broken or some fastener
has come off or broke.

Is it possible to just remove the rosewood cover & the top cover
through which the knob attaches to the actual door lock and
try to fix the lock?

Or the only option is to remove the whole inside door cover & replace
the lock with a new one?
