1994 mercedes c200 central locking

i have recently bought the car and the remote control locking was not always working, the key fob only worked some times so i had the fob tested and had to buy a new one.it still only works some times so i can not use it as it switches on the immobiliser,i get access to the car via the passenger door.could you tell me what else could be at fault?possibly the reciever (the mirror) if so can i buy one and fit it myself?

It could be the sensor in the door handle

Hold on a minute I may have ben too quick I am working out if your car has RF locking as well.

Does your key have the flip out blade

Welcome to the forum,
I think his eye for the remote locking is in the rear view mirror Malcolm. If the eye is U/S it will involve fitting a new rear view mirror. If this is the case they are over £100 from MB but Mercman I know have quite a few second hand ones at the moment.
Does your mirror have green and red L.E.D.'s in it?
Does your drivers door handle or boot lid have L.E.D.'s?
If any of these don,t work it will cause the alarm system/locking problems.

hi yes i have red and green in the mirror and on the door handle but not the boot.it seams to work every time in a garage but not always outdoors

Do both the red and green leds work when locking/unlocking the car (when the locking works that is).

As he has RF and IR has the locking been tried with the key up close to the door handle

This year it only had IR control for the locking, RF came later with the face lift in 1998, or so I believed.
