When I turn the ignition on on my 1994 SL the seatbelt / seatback warning buzzer sounds, the windows don't work, the hood won't operate and the roll bar won't move. Presumably its no coincidence that these are all operated through fuses in the rear auxiliary fuse box - though all the fuses are ok. I had to manually close the hood since the problem happened when the hood was down however this hasn't solved the problem. Battery is fine and everything else works including central locking. Can anybody help?

First I would disconnect the battery for 10 mins, the join up again. Next check the fuse on top of the OVP relay

Failing that check the SRS sensors - the seatback has to be properly locked.

Try the combination relay fuse - it's located near the brake servo under a small cover with 2 other fuses. The relay itself may need replacing.

I've tried disconnecting the batttery - no joy there

Not sure where the combination relay fuse is - The three 30A fuses next to the brake servo are all intact but are labelled blower, auxilliary fan and heated rear screen. I've opened up the relay cover next to the main fuse box - but none of the relays are fused

The heated rear screen is on the combination relay circuit - does this work?

Given this some thought, and this could be the ignition switch that has failed, it is the one common link to all of the faults. We know that the fail frequently for the wipers and indicators, with a volt meter the can easily be checked

I don't think its the combination relay as the heated rear window works - I've the soft top on but the light comes on on the switch on the dash and the wipers work

I'll check the ignition switch - though I don't understand why the seat back warning buzzer is sounding

If the buzzer is sounding then I imagine the seat backs aren't locked properly - or they are and the sensor is faulty. The modules are under the seats.

Problem solved - Re-checked the fuses and found that fuse 6 had gone. Thanks to everyone who came up with suggestions
