my e300 may have a problem with the imobilizer,although doors unlock. ok when i swith on the ignition on a couple of occassions the glow plug lamp does not light up and the vehicle will not start although the engine temp was normal.eventually after disconnecting the battery to charge it up i tried to start the engine again now all the dash lights {self check} worked fine along with glow plug lamp but the engine still would not fire up.Later i was demonstrating the problem to my friend i turned the key and it started normally. Since then over the past 6 weeks the problem has occured twice. Has anyone experienced same problem?

Does the engine turn over or not?

Does the car have a factory immobiliser or an aftermarket one? Remote central locking or keys? Is there an immobiliser light flashing on the dash?

My W124, when immobilised, fires up the glow plugs & glow plug lamp but the engine won't turn over as the starter is locked out. We need to know exactly what's happening with yours to be able to diagnose it

You say you charged the battery so I assume there is some other electrical issue?

If the engine's not turning over it's an immobiliser, electrical or starter fault. If it is turning over but not starting something else is going on
