Hi, new to MB and the forum. Short story, purchased 1997 c180 elegance. 122k on the clock but near on perfect service history. The cosmetic condition is A+ and drove 350 faultless miles, however went out today and the gearbox is not changing up, stuck in gear , no lights showing and will rev right up to 4k no problem. Any ideas of where to start,

cheers

right, just used a 1.6mm tig welding rod as dipstick, im sure it went to the bottom of the box sump cos of the shape of the wire when removed, oil is showing a level of 50mm with the engine and box warm, engine was running for a good 15 mins and drove round the block a couple of times. I also disconnected the multiplug on the box to check for oil leaks, none at all. the plug is clean and dry, no damage to harness. Any ideas as to what to try next.

cheers
