1997 c180 diagnostics

Hi,
can anyone tell me , is there a system out there for a diy budget to read fault codes on a 1997 c180. Ive seen multiplexers on e bay but sellers cant gaurantee it will work.

Hes right they dont, on the 38 pin connector only one K line is connected so you cant read all the systems on the car. Save the some and spend it with an indie local to you and have them read any possible faults.

Jib is correct, mine only came with one K-line connected, you can use the banana plug lead to pick out other pins in the 38 pin plug. All works ok.

I'm in the middle of building a 'manual mulitplexer' (don't laugh)

Basically its a rotary pot system, power lines go straight through, and the k-line is swithced on to the pins of the 38 pin plug, so when you want to test systems other than ME you just rotate the pot and then set the system to run test individually.

This does still leave the fact that I can't do a full system test with one button push on the software, but I can do all test individually.
