1997 C200 electric window problem

I have just bought my 1st Merc & am very impressed. I have a couple of faults though. Firstly, the second stage on the electric window buttons, to fully open/close the windows won't work on any window, up or down. The first stage is fine for all. Secondly, the heated rear window seems to take AGES to demist the rear windscreen.

Any help would be much appreciated

From what I remember the 97 C200 did not have the two stage window opening. In other words you have to continually hold the switch to fully open or close the windows.

I did find that the heated rear screen was much more efficient with the air con on.

I can feel two stages on the button??
This is the Elegance model, but has no air con?? I thought a heated rear window either worked or didn't, but it is very slow to demist, with what looks to be an even pattern (ie no broken lines)

To speed up the rear demisting, clean the glass. There is probably a greasy film on the inside.
To check what your car has fitted put your Vin No. into the Russian site.

Two stage window opening only works on the drivers window on my car, to close requires the switch to be held down.

I have a 1997 C200 Sport and all windows have a two stage window function. Seems like your battery has been disconnected at some time and the windows need resetting.

Press your window button so that you window goes down all the way, now press your window button (first stage only)and completely raise the window but keep your finger on the button for about 2 secs after, you will hear the window relay in the door click. Your window is now reset. Repeat for all other windows.
