Hello all, in my efforts to get all doors locking and opening I have somehow upset the key fob and now refuses to work, will start the car but thats all. All I did was pull a few fuses under the back seat, dash and under the bonnet when I went to operate the fob and nothing happened. The central locking problem turned out to be a poor vacuum connection on the pump which is now fixed but I cant get either of the fob keys to work, the red light on the fobs work but will not unlock or lock the doors, replaced batteries and still no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

Leave it in the ignition, with the ignition turned on overnight if possible (and safe) to enable it to re-sync.

Certainly will, thanks Blobcat. Do I turn the key until the dash lights up or to the first position?

I would try first positions first, it has been covered before but I cannot remember if it is pos 1 or 2

Mike, -- On reading the book for my S 320 1997 it says regarding synchronising the lock system ---

"Point the remote control at the vehicle and momentarily press lock or unlock button. Turn the Key in the Steering Lock to Position 2 within 30 seconds. the lock system is then operational again." ---

This is as written in the Drivers Handbook for the above car, I would assume that yours wou;ld be the same.

Well, tried the remote last night (after 8hrs) with no luck. The car battery was very down this morning and Im not sure if this would have effected my test.(battery down from lack of use). Just tried that test Dave with no joy.
Whats really annoying me is that it was working before I went pulling fuses and disconnecting the vacuum pump, the only reason I done this was to get the back doors working which turned out to be a bad vac tube connection to the pump, solved one problem and created another.
Tested the fob with a digital camera and it seems to be working.
Thanks
Mike

Just noticed today that the doors automatically lock after a minute of driving, is this a funtion that I have set up unknown to myself?
Thanks

Usually speed related >5mph, the doors should also re-lock if you don't open one (or the boot) within around 45-60secs after unlocking the car.

Is the key a single button 'flick' key or the 3 button plastic key shaped block type (where you don't use the metal bit at all)?
Leaving in the ignition for the 3 button one works allegedly for recharging and resyncing the immobiliser, but you say you can insert and turn the key (and start the car) whcih you couldn't be able to do if you had this key, so I assume you have the single button flick key, in which case it simply needs a resync as described above.

Thanks Blobcat, that makes sense.
JB, its the more modern 3 button block that you insert into the ignition, wait for a split second to disengage the steering lock and starts up fine. I have the older flick out one for my ML. Are you saying that if the key was out of sync it shouldnt be abe to start the car?.
Handed the car in to a local auto electrician as the drivers side window and mirror wasn't working, got it back and now only one rear window works and none of the mirrors, he said its a faulty circuit board under the switch bank. Could this be related to my remote central locking problem?(still had the problem when only the drivers window and mirror weren't working)
Thanks
Mike

UPDATE: I disconnected the battery for ten minutes tonight, then reconnected it, tried the fob and it worked. I had read a post where Malcolm had suggested this.
The windows(3) have even started working again.
But all is not well Im afraid, the fob locks the doors alright but when you press unlock on the fob the boot pops open.
The only other thing wrong is that the drivers door and mirror do not work, could this be related somehow to my boot problem?
Thanks to everyone.
Mike
