E300 TD
Hi all,

I have just bought my E300TD today and am already having an issue with my heater blower...the issue is that the heater doesn't blow (it's the dual climate control btw). No matter how much I fiddle with the controls, the fan speed doesn't seem to change. Now I know there's power going to it because you can hear it switch on and off - if you put your hands up to the vents you can also just feel the heat trickling out.

I've read that the heater blower regulator is often the cause of this type of problem and just needs replacing but when I took it for a test drive a couple of weeks ago the heater was definitely working. The battery was replaced yesterday and was wondering if this could be the cause of the problem. I know that it messed up the windows for example and now they work fine after resetting them....So my question is, can replacing the battery reset the heater blower and if so is there a way to get it back to normal??

Any help would be most appreciated as my feet are freezing!

Cheers

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
Do a google search for W210 climate control codes - I don't have it on mine but I know theres a way of getting codes from the unit by holding various buttons down.

For what its worth, I replaced the battery on my '98 W210 a couple months ago. It had no effect on the heater blower though I too had to reset the windows.

Heater motor brushes fail regularly on some W202's, Sprinters, Vito's so may be the same problem with your car.

With the heater turned on, try giving the underside of the glovebox a thump or down in the right hand side of the passenger footwell. If it kicks into life then the chances are its the brushes. You could try removing the motor and checking the brushes for wear.

Replacement brushes for W202's , Sprinters , Vitos etc are on ebay but i'm not sure if the brushes in your car are the same (or similar)

Hi All, My E290 is showing the same symptons as this so I'm guessing I,firstly need to give the panel under the glove box a kick, and secondly try and work our how to get the heater blower out. Is it difficult?
