Hello All,
I have just purchased an 1997 Mercedes C200 and the ECU is not working. I
sent it to England to try and get it fixed, but they are taking really long
and I need it urgently. I called my local dealership and they cannot get
one. If anyone has advice or knows where to get one, please tell me.
Here is the information below:

Mercedes: 018 545 11 32
Bosch: 0 261 200 614
I uploaded an image of the ECU:

I was told that this ECU is no longer being made and I must source other
model number. I have found from my research that these three ECUs are
compatible:
Other Model Numbers that would work:
018 545 44 32
018 545 43 32
A019 545 58 32

However, I also discovered that they would need to be "remapped" or "coded"
to work on the car, can my local Mercedes dealership do this? And if they
cannot, where do I go to get it done? Please help! I need an ECU asap!

I just do not belive that a Mercedes dealer cannot get a correct ECU for you.

You MUST be doing something wrong.

You need to speak to the parts dept and you must give them your VIN.

They will then get the appropriate ECU details from their computer system and tell you what the lead time is for delivery and cost.
To determine the correct ECU thay may need to ask you to confirm some of your car spec details eg . man or auto, aircon, ASR or not etc etc.

Ideally you need to go into the dealer.

Where you based ???????????

Plug the ECU into the car and the car should work but in limp home mode until you get the ECU coded to your car spec - takes a few minutes by Merc dealer but charged by .5 or 1 hour.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply.

Put it this way, I am in Barbados and our dealership would do anything to rip people off. They want $5000.00 for the ECU and they state "it may take 1-2 months to source it". To me, that means they are going to take their time and charge me a **** load for an ECU thats not even worth $200 USD.
