1997 SL 129 backrest light

Help this is only my second posting The back rest light on my car stays on and there is a bleeping noise that lasts for about 10 seconds the local dealer says that the backrest is ok but did not say what the problem was does anyone have an idea please.

Also I have just seen on ebay a set of SL 129 wheels of a sl500 1999will they also fit my car and does anyone have any idea of the ride you get from them

There is a switch in the seat that verifies the backrest is locked - not uncommon for it to become disconnected or fail.

1999 wheels could be 17's or 18's - both fine, though obviously the bigger the sidewall the more pliant the ride (ignoring runflats).

I ran 17" on the 129 and they were fine, the 18" do have a lower side wall, so a tad more bumpy ride, though I do not think that 18" were offered till 2000

18" AMGs were offered from 96ish onwards. The only others were the BBS 18" multi-piece wheels on the special editions in 2001.
