I have recently acquired a 1998 412d 2.9- 5cyl and to date has driven very well.
I carried out some work to the electrical system, so disconnected the battery.
Upon completion of the work tested the electrical system, all OK, started & drove the van, no problems.
Next day, started van as normal, no smoke perfect, went to pull away and edc light came on, drove van out of parking place and noted that the power has reduced power and lots of dark grey smoke.
Water and oil levels are normal, no blown fuses, all appears normal except EDC light stays on. I've tried disconnecting battery again, and ensuring the battery clamps are pushed on, in one continuous movement; the EDC light still remains on.
Put the electrical alterations back to original; EDC light still on.
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
