1998 C240 Oil Filter

Sorry to sound a complete turkey, but can anybody tell if the black oil filter cover just unscrews in the normal way or do I need a special wrench. it appears to be very tight but does not have anywhere to use a tool. I just don't wont to go forcing things.

yes, a special tool is required.
you could get it from the dealer for under 10 pounds.
