1998 s280

hi I have just acquired a lovely 1998 s280 1 lady owner with 41000 miles on the clock!
can any body help with a few enquiries-
apparently the car was an import-was the 280 the same as the s320?

the indicators flash very quickly (all bulbs working)- is this because there are no side repeaters on my car.the hazards flash slower like normal?

my car is a 98 old shape- what month/year did the new shape S class appear.

otherwise the car is "as new"-a lot of car for 2K!

I thought side repeaters were a legal requirement post-1986/7-ish

The S280 is not the same as the 320, as the name suggests the engine was 2800cc rather than 3200cc, but in all other respects was the same.

The model changed to the w220 in 1999 so you have one of the last of the old shape, the good thing being that all thge bugs were ironed out and so was the most reliable year for the model.

41,000 miles, hardly run in yet, a great buy for that kind of money. Are you going to share some photographs.

Best of luck and enjoy it, a bit like driving a stately home.

thanks for reply guys will share some pics soon- the colour is pewter (dark grey) I wasn't. crazy about it at first but it is growing on me!- I feel I own one of the lowest mileage W140's in the country?- it sure is a lovely drive with that straight 6-my wife says she feels like royalty when we are out in the car! still trying to figure out these rapid flashing indicators maybe the flasher unit need changing, is it the same unit as the hazards?
