Hi all,
I have got a mercedes vito 108D and I am in the process of fitting a turbocharger onto it. I have an exhaust manifold and turbocharger all ready to be fitted, along with an intercooler and all pipework.
What I havent got yet is an oil supply for the turbo. The engine I have got is a 601 series 2.3 litre 4 cylinder non turbo. I have looked around the engine and cannot locate a sender for the oil pressure.
Can anyone enlighten me as to where I can break into the oil line and T off for a supply of ol to the turbo?
You may ask why fit a turbo to an old engine!
Well, the vehicle is a traveliner, I have owned it for over 5 years, and use it as a disabled transporter my son who is wheelchair bound. This model is ideal for me as its reliable, with very little electronics governing it. Give it diesel and pressure and it will start.
Last year my son changed school and I now have to negotiate 3 mountains over the welsh valleys to get him there, and the vito does really struggle on the hills being nearly 2.5 ton in weight.
I dont want the speed, just more boost to climb the hills without screeming the engine in 2nd gear cos there`s not enough momentum due to the gear ratio`s to select 3rd gear where now the engine dies immediately on selecting 3rd.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, Anthony.
