1999 C220 CDi Auto

Hi guys, any ideas?

The glow plug lamp on the dash board of my C220 Cdi stays on for around 30seconds after the engine has started. It does this everytime it starts now, regardless as to whether the engine is hot or cold.

This appears to be the only fault with the vehicle.

My c220 manual doesn;t cover the CDi so I'm stumped!

The light does that to let you know that one or more of the glow plugs has failed.

i shall get a price on them tomorrow...

is it a common part to fail?

also, i have a dtuk chip for it... sounds silly, but that can;t do any damage can it?

Got the same thing happening on my 270CDI
Luckily mine is under warranty.
Sounds like it is a simple enough job if they come out OK if not it is a pig

glow plugs

Hi my 270 cdi did the same I replaced all five and solved the problem no light after engine starts still no light 3000 miles later but I did exchange all five with the one that is easiest to get at, and started the engine to test each plug in turn and I couldn’t get the light to come on.
I paid £9.00 each inc vat for BERU brand

As for getting the plugs out, I am in the presses of manufacturing an extraction tool here are some photos any feed back would be much appreciated
