Hi Guys

First post on this forum, so please be gentle!

I have a 1999 CLK Convertible with an electric roof issue. The background is that I have bought it around 6 months ago but not used it for 3 months, and decided to start it up over xmas to see if its OK. Typically, the battery was dead, so I took the battery off and charged it for 24 hours, and now seems to be OK. Tried the roof to see if it had seized up with the cold weather, and it was slightly problematic, but after a few attempts it went up and back down again. Left it again for another month, and decided to sell it through lack of use, and again the roof fails to work properly.

OK, so I decided to reset ECU and took battery off for 15 mins (did this twice). The boot release opens OK (which it didn't before the reset), checked all fuses OK, did (I think) the window reset. The windows go up and down, both with the red roof button and individually.

Sent the roll bars up and down a few times. The roll bars button flashed 14 times I noticed when starting up the car. Checked the canvas cover is on in the boot properly too.

The part of the cycle which it fails is when the plastic cover is due to open, so the back bit of the roof lifts up but then after 10 seconds of nothing happening but motors moving, the roof button flashes. It goes down again OK after that.

I'm sure it must be a reset issue, it had a new hood pump (I beleive) 12 months before I bought it, and with it working 4 weeks ago, I think it must be related to the flat battery.

Someone coming to view the car tomorrow, so I would VERY MUCH APPRECIATE any help on this matter ASAP!

I'll send some Stellas your way if you can suggest a solution!!

Thanking you in anticipation of your help.

Regards, Chris
