Hello all, Im on the verge of buying the above car which needs brake pads and I would rather change them myself as I know the dealer will replace them with pattern part pads and will squeel for ever. Just wanted to make sure its a DIY job and no ECU plug ins are needed.
Thanks
Mike

they look normal to me, and a straight forward job, nothing special. PSMart is on holiday, he always does his own. Don't blame you for doing it your self, you can have a good night out with the money you save.
My car has SBC brakes and I am about to change mine, I was worried that you need to put it to sleep first, But Jberks sugested disconnecting the battery, when I did that they are just like normal brakes, so thank you JB for that.

Hi

Changed front Pads and discs on a 2001 ML270cdi with no problems, not fancy electronics, pretty agricultural really.

Good luck

The look of these MLs never did anything for me until I drove it, thats what sold it for me Malcolm. Couldn't compare to my wifes Pajero, its streets ahead power wise and comfort. Full leather, lecky seats, cruise control and auto.
Must say I like it alot better than the clk I traded in for it. Coming to work this morning I cornered pretty hard around a round about, just felt like she lost grip for a split second which was understandable but as I straightened up on the exit from the round about I felt a large clunk/thud as if something in the car shifted from left to right. Checked the spare wheel and carrier and all seems fine.

I have an ML270cdi and as you mine skipped out on a roudabout, I had new tyres fitted all round and this sorted it, corners alot better now. I am pleased with mine so far have had it 6 months but was talking to someone today who has a Y reg pre face lift model which he has owned for 4 years and he says he's had nothing but bother with it, gearbox faults, loads of electricals including air con, eats discs and pads, engine mountings, sort of makes you nervous.
