Can some kind person help a relatively new Owner of a 1999 SL500.
It appears to have been specd with oversize front discs to norm. The Merc part# of discs is 1294212112 (335 diameter) Any ideas as to brake pad part# to suit - both Merc own or other manufacturers fit would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks

Your car will be a 129068 car that had a change from 01 07 98 from the earlier version, when they fitted the V6 to the smaller engined car, they also changed the standard wheels from 16" to 17" and fitted larger brake disc.

If you want to keep the front wheels clean you can use the RED Cermamic no DPC 31363C I always used them

A1294212112 / A1294212312 are £50ish + VAT each - matching pads are A0034200820 - again £50ish + VAT from MB.

You can get these parts from GSF - either as Brembo / Pagid / Textar for half the cost - I can't remember who the OEM supplier was.

Thanks Television and stats007 much appreciated
As an aside, I recently purchased replacement discs off E'bay (authentic Merc. with correct stamps etc) for £35 including postage. Will be busy this weekend!

if you have nice wheels and hate brake dust go with the red pads they make a big big difference and i am not heavy on my brakes at all

You may see increased disc wear with harder pads - and noise.
