Hi guys.
I picked up my 68 plate A200 from Evans Halshaw 2 weeks ago.
The start/stop function does not activate. Any ideas?

2nd question - does anyone know of any reputable businesses that does the interior ambient lighting? I got an AMG line Executive and the ambient lighting is in the Premium and Premium plus ranges.

Stop/start is a fickle beast and needs plenty of parameters to be reached before it kicks in. Many on here (myself included) would say you are lucky that it doesn't turn on Most of us start our journeys by turning it off!!!

GIYF for finding someone local to retrofit ambient lighting.

I can understand you wanting start/stop to work but I'd call it not working a bonus.

Not sure if ambient lighting is an easy retrofit but you could try CommandOnline in Lightwater.

Is your car an automatic, and If so have you ever experienced the way start/stop operates with an automatic gearbox?
It is truly awful so the very first thing I always do when I start the engine is hit the off button.

Regarding the ambient lighting...on my car it is integrated into the dashboard so it would probably be a big job and would likely not be as good as factory fitted.

Yeah my car is automatic. My husband's BMW has S/S and his sits on the driveway like an ornament and his always works, although I've read for Mercedes it needs charged.
It's not causing me any issues per se and from what I gather, most hate it, so perhaps best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Most common stop start failure is failing battery. 3 years is not unheard of, but as others say, you're better off turning it off anyway as it tends to trade very small fuel savings for catastrophic premature component failure on the timing system (I'm being slightly dramatic).

The ambient lighting retrofit I think I read on another posts was into the thousands to fit the Merc system. Extra modules or upgraded COMAND, plus all the strip down. If you can find one and ambient is a must have for you, it's much better value to sell your car and buy one with the lighting already included.
