I'm after some general information on a 2000/V C43 AMG Saloon that I've found.

General performance/spec running costs problem etc, the usual kind of thing.

Anyone have one or run one before care to share their experiences?

£24995 from a MB dealer - sound about right for 14000 miles?

Cheers,
Tim.

I owned a 99(T) C43 AMG until September last year.

In 30,000 miles the only problems I had were a steering box, noisy rear seats & gearbox slipping.

Steering box replaced, seats vaselined & g.box valves reset all under warranty.

I managed 25 MPG easily, but if you get silly then it can head for single figures quickly. The C43 is actualy better on fuel than the C32.

The only reason I changed was for a newer model as I have very fond memories of the C43.

In short BUY IT you'll love it!!!

Tim, did you buy the C43?  I have owned my C43-AMG since April 2001 (T registered).  I bought it with 15,000 miles on the clock.  No gearbox problems.  The only problem experienced was failure of one of the air-con sensors which Mercedes replaced free of charge.  I also agree you'll get around 25mpg if you are behaving yourself and a lot less if you're not!  ;-)

I hope you bought this car - you will not regret it!  By the way, I fitted sat-nav to my C43 and it was so well fitted and trimmed that most people think it was fitted at manufacture.

Has anyone fitted a hands-free telephone to a C43-AMG?   I am not too comfortable with the cosmetics of what has been described to me so far so have refrained from fitting one but would welcome any suggestions.

Regards
Annie

Mercedes have a factory coloured console that clips onto the pass side dash.

The speaker is integrated into the console.

Hi Annie

Thanks for your post.  The dealer had sold this particular car before I could get around to looking at it, but I've since decided to buy a practically brand new Porsche Boxster S instead - I'm a sucker for a soft top!

Cheers and safe driving,
Tim.
