Had the car parked at the house for a few weeks took it out for a run and noticed vibrating from back wheels turned to go back home and then heard a loud bang from the back, got home and noticed that the vibrating was down to someone loosened the nuts on the back wheel, now it has a whining noise coming from the engine and loss of power.

any idea

thanks BOBBY

Could there be damage to the diff causing the whine and maybe not distributing power correctly so therefore loss of power into thin air?

Loose wheel bolts shouldn't have any effect on the engine!! The bang could have been one of the wheels hitting the bodywork?
Damage to hub/disc, causing the handbrake to stick on?

Are we sure the whine is from the engine and not the back axel? Does it increase with speed and gear changes or RPM and engine tone?

Cant work this out, from the info posted. A loose wheel would not affect the diff. also its quite easy to tell if the whine is coming from the front or the rear, and when pulling or in the over run,or when revving at idle.

The bang could have been a rear brake stuck on

Hi, Check the pipe coming from the turbo to the intercooler theres a plastic part held on with spring clips sometimes these blow off, sorry to say breaking the lip off the plastic pipe, it goes with a real bang, and then off course no power due to loss of boost, cheers Dave

Maybe the parking brake is seized. That would certainly cause the wheels to vibrate, especially as the car has been parked up for a few weeks.

They won't rev over 4k in neutral anyway.

Have you jacked the rear end up and checked everything is tight? Push and pull the wheels, check the bearings, etc? I still think you should check the parking brake.

I wonder if as well as loosening your wheels nuts they have stuck something up/in your exhaust pipe. This would make the turbo whine and give you a loss of power?
