Hi guys just a few questions about turbo's on diesels . How long do they last as my car has approx 140k on it now and spends most of its time on the motor way . Also how do you know if its worn or about to go? Is there any easy way of checking it at home? I change the oil every 10k with mobil 1 so i hope it helps it out .

They tend to last for along time if the car has been serviced properly. Remove the turbo's intake pipe and check for play on the shaft. Loads of play=knackered.

If it is knackered you will have loads of blue smoke from the back end!

I will see 140k next week. Never a problem with the engine, turbo etc. No oil consumption so all is ok for another while.
