2001 W210 320 cdi strange speedo activity

All, I have a 2001 W210 320 Cdi about 99k on the clock, I started to notice the speedo needle, instead of the needle smoothly going round as speed increases, the needle moves like a ticking clock?? its fine up to about 60mph but from about 60 mph to about 140mph ish the speedo needle ticks like a clock?? The instrument cluster is fine apart from that, oh except the missing pixel issue.

Anyone got any idea's??

I had the same problem 2 years ago but only for 2 hours... Since then it never happened again but I am afraid that it might happen again and I am interested to learn if there is a solution.
