Should the windscreen for this model have the same blue tint as the rest of the glasswork?

Also should there be a shade at the top of the windscreen?

(I'll explain why later if someone has a reasonably definitive answer - to hide my embarassment!)

Cheers
Simon

Same tint?

Thanks but I think what I should have asked is:-
Should the blue windscreen tint be exactly the same shade of blue as the other windows or it is lighter because its a windscreen?

I'll come clean with an explanation for the info request:-
I just had my windscreen replaced.
On driving home, it didnt seem quite right - somehow brighter and the black area behind the rear-view mirror seemed 'very noticeable'

The stupid thing is I can't remember what the old one looked like.

The new one *may* have a blue tint (if it does its barely noticeable) but it certainly isn't like the other windows. If I look along the glass after it has rained, the original windows show raindrops as distinctly blue but the new shows virtually no blue.

Also, my wife drove the car later and also mentioned that she thought there was a shading at the top - she also noticed that the black area behind the rear-view mirror stood out but if there was a band it wouldn't be so noticeable.

When I booked the car in, they asked for the model and specifically asked about whether it was Avantgarde and mentioned something about a shading. According to the paperwork, they initially booked it as 'BLUE GREY SOLAR CONTROL+ 5337AB SGYV' and the price was around £380

But the screen actually installed was 'WINDSCREEN BLUE SCG SENSO 5337ABSMV'

I even went as far as going to the depot to look at the old windscreen - unfortunately I have no way of knowing whether it really was mine or not since it was pretty smashed up (the one I was shown didn't have a band at the top).
But then again the guy there told me there was no such thing as solar glass on Merc despite the wording on the paperwork (above) and it be being mentioned on all the other windows.

Also what are the E numbers on the glass. The existing windows have E1 and E2 markings - the new windscreen has E6

At the end of the day, I now have an unchipped windscreen and it only cost a £25 excess but any help to confirm/kill this nagging doubt would be much appreciated.

Not sure Simmo

as I only had a 211 for a couple of weeks.

Could the black behind the mirror be for a rain sensor.
Regards the guy telling you there is no such thing as MB solar glass. Thats not true.
