2002 s320cdi charcoal filter

I have exhaust fumes coming into the cabin, my local garage said it was probably the charcoal filter, when I picked the car up they said that there is no charcoal filter fitted, but changed the cabin filters, they were mingin, dont think they have ever been changed. The thing is I am still smelling exhaust fumes, not as bad but still there non the less. any ideas would be appreciated.

I believe and I'M SURE SOME ONE WILL correct me if wrong that the only charcoal filter forms part of the petrol tank breather/evapourative emmisions system and doesn't require changing acording to every wkshp manual I've ever looked in. Cheap filters fitted to the cabin venilation and heating system are more likely to be the culprit. Need to get em' fm Merc' dealer.

Sounds like you have a injector seal leaking, hence the smell,can you hear a ticking noise on tick over??

Hi, thanks, maybe there is a slight ticking noise, but not 100% certain, only had car for 3 weeks, so not sure that any engine noise is just typical merc noise, will have closer look/listen

I agree, had the same on my V220 CDi.
