Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. My partner has a 2002 W203 and the remote central locking does not work. The fob shows a little red light when pressed. The central locking works from inside the car on the dash. You have to use the blade to lock and unlock the driver door and the boot. Its quite annoying. Also, not sure if this is released, when you drive away you get a warning that the boot is open (but its not). Any ideas on where to start looking, Thanks

HI Drdre78, I have replaced the whole fuse unit in the boot with a new one (includind new fuses). Still no luck.

Does the key light up in front of a digital camera when a button is pressed, have you tried it very close to the drivers door handle

I have a similar problem to this.

W2003 06 c220 and door locks open with IR but not remote. Checked the fuses, all okay. Worried this is gonna cost me.
I also have issues with the internal light not coing on when Inopen the door and the dash light for the headlight control isnt working.

Have you tried the key in a digital camera to see if there is a beam,, have you tried holding the remote a few inches from the drivers door handle.

if fuse 8 is ok, and assuming the IR checks out in the digital camera, im thinking the aerial amp has failed

I dropped my car into Andy Gayle's yesterday and they have come up with the following:
Keys working ok, the SAM unit is also okay (not sure what that is) so must be either the aerial that is in the rear screen or the amplifier.
They tested the aerial and said it was showing an open circuit (the rear screen looks okay to me) and the amplifier is difficult to get to, to test.
I don't want to get the screen replaced if its the amplifier, where is the amplifier??
Anyone got any bright ideas? I'm about £100 in on this and only really wanted to spend £300 tops to get it sorted.

the amplifier is a time consuming job as it entails removing the roof lining on a saloon. the connections are bonded to the screen and they can break off also

The OCP operates the door lamps and powers the rear antenna amp

Whats an OCP?

Do I just test the continuity of the separate circuits.

The OCP is the overhead control panel, this operates the lights near the mirror, this N70 unit also supplies power for the amps, it could pay you to get a STAR read out on this fault.

I know that the rear amps can give problem and the glass connections also, but this N70 OCP does throw things.

The rear Sam power the amplifier?

Yes correct, it is the Ecall and telephone on the 203, I have been working on a 230 part of the day where it operates an antenna amp.

I spoke with Andy Gayle and am gonna drop in there next week so he can show me where to test the screen. Have one in the area I can grab if it tests ok.
I have though found the oil test screen and need to add some.
What oil should I use? Need a litre, the Haynes manual says it needs to be some weird MB spec oil, will regular 15w40 do the job?
