2003 CLK320 Problem

A relative has a CLK320 which he has owned from new and has covered 39,000 miles with FMBSH. He has asked me to drop it off at the dealers as he is thinking of selling it to have a problem looked at.

He says that struggles to idle dropping to 300rpm with the engine shaking and takes loads of throttle to get going, it runs fine once up and going. He said that he had it in a few times when it was new under warranty but never really got anywhere with it, it does seem to be getting worse now doing it all the time.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated......

Wild stab in the dark but air flow meter £250 + vat from MB cheaper from Bosch agents, the car needs diags to be sure but I'd put £10 on the meter.

A search using "MAF" will put up other peoples symptoms of faulty air flow meters, then see if your relatives symptoms seem similar.

That sounds to me like an Idle Control Valve problem.

just an update..... the car is still at the dealer, ironically the car has been fine over the past few days, it has done it on and off since new but has got much worse recently - they have said that nothing is coming up on the diagnostics so are keeping it over night to try it from cold in the morning.
