I have had terrible back problems since I began driving my 2003 E-320. The dealer says its my problem. Anyone else had similar situations? :x I have driven earlier E-320's with no problem, and I still have no problem with my older one. These seats are a couple of inches lower...

Hello fellow back sufferer.

I doubt that there is a specific problem with the seat on your new Merc, it more likely that you have'nt found the optimum position/posture yet.

I would continue to try a variety of positions and then fine tune until it's just right. I have found that I normally get back pain for a few weeks when I change car.

From experience, I have found that if its low down back pain, you need to raise the seat up to a higher position and let you legs hang down more. Also you must not have lots of free air under your thighs near the knees....this area must be supported by the seat. This will also be the case if you are getting sciatica down the leg.

If its upper back pain, ie across the shoulders, you have the seat too far back from the steering wheel or your back rest is too reclined

Backs........who needs them!

Cheers

Correct me if I'm wrong but dont the new E class seats only pivot the rear of the cusion and not raise the whole seat as in the 210.

Yhis would be a problem as I noticed on a test drive.
