Hi, I've just bought a 2003 E220 cdi classic, and to my amazement when I was buying it - it didn't have a CD player!

Anyhow I'm pretty broke after my recent purchase and I was wondering whats the cheapest way to get a CD player in the car - I assume its a matter of replacing the casette player module ( do they stll make casettes? ) with the CD one.

Also any advice on sourcing one of these modules would be great .. thanks

Good luck ... My bets are on a CD changer which goes below the radio in the motorised compartment...

Expect to pay £600+ for one. On the plus side , your car has an audio gateway compatible with an upgrade to DVD comand. :)

Hi,
What have you fitted at the moment?
Is is an Audio20?
If it is, the cheapest option is to let it there and add a CD Changer.
If you want that option, I may just have what you are looking for.

I think I do .. how would one find out ?

How much would one of these CD changers cost ? My budget is very limited!

Edit : Meant to say I have a casette player and a radio only see pic

Looks like an Audio20 CC to me.
I have a CD changer that came out of my leased E-class (W211).
The model number is MC-3330.
You need to ask your dealer if your car is pre-wired. If it is , it is a very simple job to install.

How much would you ask to part with the said CD changer?

Marnix's offer sounds the best bet. I'd imagine it is pre-wired. I presume it has a CDC button but its always worth asking the question to avoid any nasty surprises.
The cd changer in the motorised compartment is a cool gadget.

As an extra option, there should be plenty of Audio 20 CD players on ebay as people swap them out to replace them with command units. You could also try Braybrooks who fit command units. They probably have a room full of old audio 20's that they've pulled out. They should be a straight swap.

I don't think I can match the price for the system for sale on Ebay.
It's good value if you can fit it yourself.
Don't forget that the unit may have to be programmed as they are all Can-Bus linked to the car.
Typical MB charge for fitting and programming: Minimum 3 hours labour at £98 + VAT
Soo not so good value unless you can fit it yourself

It should all be there. It is the complete CD Player (audio20 CD)
It's just the fitting.
You need to remove the facia panel from the centre console to be able to get to the fitting screws.
Maybe starting another post to ask if somebody has already tried to do this on a W211 could give you the answers on how to get at it.
The connectors should be the same.
Also I don't know if the unit needs programming to the car as it it Can-Bus controlled

I thought the W211 was most Bus?

Not being picky , just adding.

To be honest , the car is more desirable with the CD changer fitted than the single cd
