I hope someone can help me.
I love this car, had it for 2.5 years.
8 months ago one of the heater plugs failed and can not be removed, I am told cylinder head needs to come off to do this. Also recently the car would loose the will to accelerate after motorway steady cruising for over one hour, you can kick down and try to accelerate and nothing. Pull over and turn off the engine and re start it's back to normal.
I have had the air flow meter replaced and now the garage tells me I need a new Turbo, the car has covered 71K
I am told this is common with this model - I thought I was buying a good reliable car !

Any expert help would be much appriciated

sorry to say the above faults are a problem on the 211, turbo vents and heater plugs should only be taken out on a red hot engine only!!!!

Hi There is a good chance the vaccum actuator is the problem, this is the part on the turbo that pulls the vanes into the exhaust flow and gives the the boost.Simple to check,if you have a vaccum tester connect it to the small pipe that comes from the transducer down to the turbo,if not, take the small pipe off the tranducer and suck on it,you should get a resistance,if not,a good chance the actuator is not holding a vacuum.

Hope this helps John Kerr

Hello - job fixed now. The last garage installed an incorrect / later model air filter at the last service. This was passing too much air through the air flow meter and confusing the whole system. Leeds Mercedes sorted me out and at a reasonable cost too.
Thanks for all you help
