Hi all. For those who are going to replace the door lock mechanism on their pre facelift, here is the procedure that worked for me. Disconnect the battery until airbag is removed.
(1) Remove tweeter. chrome cover and door lock surround.
(2) Remove the 2 covers that hide door card securing screws. 1- cover that says airbag and 2- under the door grab.
(3) Release all the panel clips that secure the door card by using door card removal tool, slowly pull away from the door and push door card upwards until free.
(4) Remove door card from rubber strip, unclip window switch, puddle light and inner door release handle and place on a safe place. Remove both speakers and leave in a safe place.
(5) Try cutting the insulation cover with a Stanley knife so it can be replaced again.
(6) Drill out the 3 door airbag rivets, unplug the air bag and leave in safe place. Unplug the door lock signal cable and reroute it along with the opener cable.
(7) Connect the battery again so that the window can be operated. Run the window down so that the 2 window securing screws are visible so that they can be slackened off and remove the window. If they don't want to release, you will need to take the screws out completely.
(8) Undo the rear (towards door lock) top and bottom window regulator retaining nut and screw. For the bottom nut there is a rubber grommet that must be removed to gain access.
(9) Remove the 3 screws that hold the lock in place and manipulate it past the regulator guide and remove from door.
Fitment is the reverse order and don't forget to rivet the airbag back in its position.
I hope this helps for future repairers.
