Afternoon all,

Looking for some advice owned by 2004 ML 270CDI for about 8-9 years apart from the servicing and tyres and breaks and a couple of injector seals cars been great.

But Im having a weird issue thats intermittant sometimes to perm other.

My headlights keep going to main beam (high) for no reason of flicking on and off, when on dipped (low), if on Auto sometimes also, they were flicking on to high but now stay on perm high all the time.

I have removed the relay in the side foot well which allows me to run the side and low beams during the day and night but with no main beams will be fail on the MOT later on this year.

Any ideas? I tried taking it to a Mercedes Specialist who said to replace the turn signal aseembly which made no diference at all, then they said its possibly a ECM/BCM some kind of module which is around £1500-3500 which basically rights off the car.

If anyone knows please let me know as the car is fine apart from this.

Thanks

If you have eliminated the possibility of a faulty relay and it sounds as though have, you most likely have a faulty SAM not unusual on a Mercedes of that age, I've had similar issues with wipers.
The main SAM is clipped to the underside of the fuse/relay panel under the bonnet, these can be replaced (from a breakers) quite cheaply and it's not a difficult job, just need to make sure it has a matching part number. Have a look on you tube.
